Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about DIVINITY Olives, our extra virgin olive oil, pomegranate balsamic, delivery and gifts.

Where is DIVINITY based?

DIVINITY is a family-owned olive grove and producer in Kingsview Estate, Mangawhai, Northland, about an hour's drive north of Auckland, New Zealand.

Who runs DIVINITY?

Michael and Leanne Chinnery. We planted our Mangawhai olive grove ourselves in 2004 and set up DIVINITY Olives in 2007.

What olive oil do you make?

A single-variety Frantoio extra virgin olive oil. Frantoio is a classic Tuscan olive with a fruity, peppery flavour. We also make a Roasted Garlic Infused Olive Oil.

How fresh is DIVINITY olive oil?

All our oil is extracted within 24 hours of harvest, and we sell out every year, so every bottle you buy is from the latest season.

Is DIVINITY olive oil certified extra virgin?

Yes. It carries the Olives New Zealand (ONZ) Red Seal certification. The oil is tested for free fatty acidity (under 0.5%, against the international limit of 0.8%) and peroxide (under 15 mEq/kg, against 20), and passes a sensory panel at Plant & Food Research, Auckland.

Is DIVINITY olive oil made in New Zealand?

Yes. Our extra virgin olive oil is New Zealand grown and carries the Olives New Zealand Red Seal.

What awards has DIVINITY won?

Oil from our Mangawhai grove has won Gold and Silver medals at the Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Awards, and medals at the New Zealand Extra Virgin Olive Oil Awards, in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2014, 2015 and 2019.

Where does your balsamic come from?

Modena, Italy. We combine aged Modena balsamic with pure pomegranate juice to make our Pomegranate Balsamic Reduction and The Jelly.

Is the Roasted Garlic oil made with New Zealand garlic?

Yes. Our Roasted Garlic Infused Olive Oil is made with whole roasted New Zealand garlic cloves.

How should I use the Pomegranate Balsamic Reduction?

Drizzle it over cheese, strawberries, salads, salmon or roast meats such as lamb, venison and duck. It's thick and sweet, so a little goes a long way.

How do I serve The Jelly?

With aged blue cheese, ripe brie or cold meats on a cheese board, spread over fine cuts of beef, or as a glaze for lamb and pork.

How long do DIVINITY products keep?

Our olive oils have a 2-year shelf life, the Pomegranate Balsamic Reduction 3 years and The Jelly 1 year. Store them in a cool, dark place with the cap on.

How much is delivery?

Auckland $6, the rest of the North Island $10 and the South Island $16. Delivery is free on orders over $100 to the North Island and over $150 to the South Island. We deliver NZ wide, usually within 2 to 4 working days in urban areas.
